Yasir Shah stars as PAK defeat England by 75 runs

London: Yasir Shah grabbed two wickets in quick succession as Pakistan won the first Test against England by 75 runs at Lord’s on Sunday’s fourth day. At tea England were 155 for six needing a further 128 runs to reach their victory target of 283. Jonny Bairstow (28 not out) and all-rounder Chris Woakes (five not out) — who had already taken 11 wickets in this match — were still at the crease but with just the tail to come.

Earlier, England were set a target of 283 to win the first Test after bowling out Pakistan for 215 in their second innings on the fourth day at Lord’s on Sunday.Pakistan, 214 for eight overnight, lost their last two wickets for just one run in 13 balls during Sunday’s opening 10 minutes.Stuart Broad struck twice in two balls with Yasir Shah, failing to add to his overnight Test-best 30 not out, and Mohammad Amir (one) both caught behind by wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow.
