KARACHI: MQM leader Wasim Akhtar and two others have been taken into custody in Dr Asim terror facilitation case after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) rejected their interim bail on Tuesday.
Anti-terrorism court was hearing Dr Asim Case in a corruption inquiry being conducted by the National Accountability Bureau today.
PPP leader Qadir Patel fled the court premises following the orders of his arrest. The court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Patel, and placed his name on the Exit Control List.
Earlier, the anti-terrorism court rejected interim bail of MQM’s Wasim Akhtar, Rauf Siddiqui, Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Anis Kaimkhani and PPP’s Qadir Patel.
Wasim Akhtar, Anis Kaimkhani and others were barred from leaving the court-room.
“We are not being allowed to go out of the court premises,” said Waseem Akhtar.
Claiming that constitution and law are being ruined in the country, he said, “Today, the court accepted the fake Joint Interrogation Team (JIT) report.”
