Urs of Sindhi Sufi Poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai starts in Bhit Shah

SINDH: The 272nd three-day annual Urs of great Sindhi Sufi poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (R.A) has started in Bhit Shah. Sindh Government has already announced public holiday for Friday across the Sindh.

Three day annual Urs of the renowned Sindhi Sufi scholar, saint and poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai inaugurated by the Special Assistant to Chief Minister Religious Affairs & Auqaf Dr. Abdul Qayyum Soomro. He offered the Fateha for formal inauguration of the Urs. Talking to the media, he said, “Shah Abdul Bhittai through his poetry gave message of peace, harmony and brotherhood.”

Provincial Minister for Culture Sharmeela Farooqi visited the shrine, offered Fatiha and laid a Chadar to pay her respects to the great Sufi poet.

The Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai is a grand festival in Sindh where people from almost every city and village of Sindh and from other provinces of Pakistan make a determined effort to attend this. Every year it commences from 14th Safar and lasts for three days.
