WASHINGTON: Foreign secretary Aizaz Chaudhry has said that the time for asking Pakistan to do more is over and now the world will have to do more for Pakistan.He held that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif visit to US is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries. He underlined that cooperation on nuclear safety and security related matters would continue between Pakistan and US. No deal will be struck with US on nuclear matters. He stated that Pakistan does not want to limit its relations with the US only on matters of security.
He went on to say that PM Nawaz Sharif during his meeting with US authorities has informed them about Pakistan’s role against terrorism and told them Pakistan had fought this war despite too many difficulties.He stated that PM Nawaz Sharif had exchanged views with US authorities on Pakistan-Indian relations and situation of Afghanistan.
He pointed out that documentary evidence on Indian meddling in Pakistan had been provided to US secretary of state John Kerry. The said dossiers will be provided to India whenever contact is made with it, he added.Foreign secretary said that Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project did not come under discussion during the meeting.
He said that 1.9 billion dollars have been spent on ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb against the terrorists so far. Pakistan is committed to weed out terrorism, he declared. Improvement in relations between the countries was also highlighted during the meeting while ideas on Afghanistan were also exchanged.
