NEW DELHI – India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj may visit Pakistan next week to attend a meeting on Afghanistan, which will be held on December 9 in Islamabad,
Pakistan had sent invitation to Ms Sushma to attend an important conference on Afghanistan to be held here on December 9 under the Heart of Asia Istanbul Process.
“There is no confirmation about her visit as of today”, Foreign Office spokesperson said yesterday.
According to the spokesperson an invitation to the Indian External Affairs minister was sent much earlier.
The meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the international climate change summit in the French capital appeared to be more than just a ‘courtesy call’, said a Pakistani official.
“India will host the next meeting of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process, so there is every likelihood that the Indian foreign minister will travel to Islamabad,” said the official, who requested not to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media on such matters.
