Sharjeel Khan receives threatening calls

LAHORE – Opener Sharjeel Khan Thursday revealed that he had been receiving threatening phone calls from unidentified men.
Sharjeel Khan took Twitter to post a video on Thursday noon, stating that he had been receiving spam calls from unknown numbers, receiving threats to use his fake videos to defame him and asking for money in return.
In a video message, he said: “Hello there, I am sharing a thing you guys today, I’ve been receiving threat calls from unknown numbers for quite a few days, demanding money from me.
They say they have made my fake videos, which they are going to upload on social media and will defame me and put my career on stake if I did not pay the demanded money.
“I thought I should bring this into your knowledge that all such videos are fake.
There is no such thing.
They are just trying to malign my name.
“The callers are asking me to pay them Rs200,000 or they will leak my video,” he added.
According to sources, the 26-year-old left-handed batsman did not inform the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about receiving threats.
As the news was reported in local media, the PCB took notice of it and ordered its security vigilance and anti-corruption unit to look into Sharjeel’s matter and submit a report within three days.
Reacting to the viral video of Sharjeel Khan in which he claimed of being threatened by blackmailers, the PCB spokesperson said anti-corruption unit had been directed to probe the matter.
Sharjeel was recently included in World T20 squad after his solid performances in the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
He has played 11 ODIs (194 runs) and 11 T20Is (266 runs).
