Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane’s Bollywood debut became the talk of the town well before its release but for all the wrong reasons. Whether it was the overt photo shoot that showed Mawra in a skimpy outfit or the actress’ statements in favour of Phantom post her decision to cross borders. The official trailer of the film titled Sanam Teri Kasam finally released on Tuesday evening and the little reflection of Mawra’s acting chops is enough to silence the critics.
From the looks of the trailer, the film seems to follow the clichéd ‘stud meets nerd and falls in love’ storyline but the newbies Harshvardhan Rane as Inder and Mawra as Saru fit into their characters perfectly well – Rane as the gun-toting, drunk badass and Mawra as the innocent, traditional girl next door. Judging by the emotional expressions, the film may turn out to be more than just an ordinary love story.
Touted as a musical, romantic saga, the music by Himesh Reshammiya sounds fresh and melodious. Directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, Sanam Teri Kasam is scheduled for a February 2016 release.
