Hundreds of Pakistan International Airlines employees under the banner of Joint Action Committee have boycott to airline duties. Workers locked up the offices and threatened to suspend flight operations from February 2 if the government didn’t withdraw its decision to privatize the national airline.
The PIA employees began their protest following the privatization bill was declared in the National Assembly couple of days ago despite opposition’s protest and later passed by the assembly in absence of opposition.
PIA spokesperson said the workers were appealed to resume working on booking offices so visitors and passengers could be facilitated.
PIA booking officers across the country have been closed by the employees to register their protest, however those offices located at the airport are still opened.
Later dialogues have been planned between Joint Action Committee, headed by Sohail Baloch and Chairman PIA in which Committee divides into two parts and president of people unity Hadayat Ullah stand against dialogues.
