BARIKOT: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday expressed his satisfaction over the pace of relief and compensation efforts in October 26 quake affected areas of Swat.
Sharif arrived here in Gumgot village of Tehsil Barikot to distribute cheques of compensation amount among the residents of the area who were affected with the massive trembler last month.
Addressing quake victims at Barikot in Swat on Saturday, he said the federal government in consultation with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government firmed up the compensation package for the victims soon after the calamity.
He said payment of compensation to those whose houses were damaged will be completed by 24th of this month.
The Prime Minister said he visited quake-affected areas soon after the calamity and he will be visiting more areas in coming days to personally monitor the compensation payment process. He said every possible assistance will be provided to the affectees.
He applauded the national and the provincial disaster management authorities for timely initiating relief operation.
The Prime Minister said the district of Swat was also badly hit by terrorism. However, it was cleansed of terrorists through a successful operations.
Announcing different development projects for the area, he directed to make the recently completed Nawaz Sharif hospital fully functional.
PM Nawaz Sharif also distributed cheques among the earthquake victims.
The Prime Minister also condemned the terror attack in Paris. He said Pakistan will play its role to rid the world of this menace.
