Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reached Shangla accompanied by Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Pervaiz Khattak.
According to media sources the PM has been briefed about the earthquake and its destruction scale by military and provincial government authorities. “228 people have died, and 3,320 houses have been damaged due to the calamity,” the PM informed
The authorities have told PM that further information is being collected, but they are facing difficulties due to the lack of communication in far-off areas.
PM has also briefed that tents and blankets are the most urgent need for the affected people.
PM has issued order to continue relief operation in affected areas as soon as possible. He has further asked for the rehabilitation process to be initiated on an emergency basis.
