ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Justice (retired) Javed Iqbal.
According to details, he prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and commiserated with the bereaved family.
“Javed Iqbal rendered great legal and literary service for the country,” the prime minister said in his condolence message. “We have lost an intellectual, great jurist and a true Pakistani,” he added.
Javed Iqbal – son of poet-philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal and a former chief justice of the Lahore High Court – passed away in Lahore at the age of 90.
