RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader and former MNA, Hanif Abbasi on Saturday said the people have virtually exposed Imran Khan’s popularity in the city.
Talking to media after casting his vote at the Union Council 21 of NA 56, Hanif Abbasi said the head of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan did not even turn up in his constituency wherefrom he was elected as MNA during the last general elections.
He said the people of Rawalpindi have now realized their mistake of voting for him. He said people have rejected the perception of PTI as a popular party in Rawalpindi, adding its party head has just been doing ‘drawing-room politics’.
He said on the directions of PML (N) leadership only capable candidates were given tickets to contest for Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship for 46 union councils in Rawalpindi while other aspirants were directed to fully support them.
He said that action would be taken against those who, violating party discipline, took part in election as independent candidates.
