Lahore: Pakistan Hockey team will leave for Malaysia on Saturday night, to participate in the 4th Asian Champions trophy in Kuanton, the state capital of Pehang, from October 20 to 30.
Besides Pakistan, tournament host country Malaysia and other countries including China, India, Japan and Korea will also participate in the tournament.
The national team will participate in a practice match against Japan on October 18. The first match of the Champions Trophy event will be played between Pakistan and Malaysia on October 20. The team will enter the arena against Korea On October 21.
The biggest fight event will be played between traditional rivals Pakistan and India on 23 October. The captains of both teams are very determined to claim the trophy.
Head coach Khawaja Mohammad Junaid said that the Green Shirts participated in only 7 internationals games after World League scheduled in Belgium.
It is premature to predict any major results of the Champions Trophy, however, all teams including India will put efforts to performed well in the event.
