Pakistan fighting for ticket in World Cup2019  as it faces West Indies in first ODI

SHARJAH: Pakistan will face West Indies in the first one-day international at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday.After whitewashing the Twenty20 champions West Indies in the T20 series under the captaincy of Sarfraz Ahmed, it is now upto Azhar Ali to take the reigns of the unpredictable Pakistani side and lead them to victory.

Azhar Ali’s leadership has come under fire following the horror show in the ODI series against England, which they lost 4-1.Pakistan has only managed to win two out of their previous 10 games. The side has to whitewash the West Indies team in order to regain eighth spot in the ICC ODI rankings.

Umar Akmal, Rahat Ali, Sharjeel Khan and Asad Shafiq will be making their ODI comeback in the series against West Indies.

The two former champions will clash for the first time since their encounter in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

The first game of the three-match series will start at 04.00 pm Pakistan Standard Time (PST) today.

Pakistan (squad): Azhar Ali (captain), Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Rahat Ali, Sarfraz Ahmed (wicket keeper), Sharjeel Khan, Shoaib Malik, Sohail Khan, Umar Akmal, Wahab Riaz and Yasir Shah.

West Indies (squad): Jason Holder (captain), Suliemann Benn, Carlos Brathwaite, Kraigg Brathwaite, Dwayne Bravo, Jonathan Carter, Johnson Charles, Shannon Gabriel, Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Sunil Narine, Ashley Nurse, Kieron Pollard, Dinesh Ramdin and Marlon Samuels.
