RAWALPINDI (Neo Web Desk) – The inquiry committee, formed to probe irregularities with regards to the investment made by National Logistics Cell (NLC) has completed its investigation in the corruption case, Dunya News reported on Thursday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), financial irregularities and lack of transparency was found during the interrogation. In light of the proofs presented by some retired General Officers, Maj Gen (retd) Khalid Zahir Akhter was terminated from his post which implies; forfeiture of rank, decorations, medals, honours, awards, seizure of pension, recovery of personal gains, cancellation of service benefits and all other allied facilities including medical etc.
Lt Gen (retd) Afzal Muzaffar’s performance was severely reprimanded whereas Lt Gen (retd) Khalid Munir Khan was not found involved in any financial irregularity or serious misconduct and therefore was absolved from all charges.
Irregularities in NLC were identified in 2009 during audit by Public Accounts Committee on which Pakistan Army initiated inquiry in 2010.
Army Chief General Raheel Sharif directed to deal the case on emergency basis.
