Nisar demands RAW agent details, Iran pledges full cooperation

Islamabad—The Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Mehdi Honardoost, on Friday assured Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan that the Government of Iran will extend full cooperation on all issues that ensure security and development in Pakistan and Iran.
Talking to the Interior Minister, the Iran ambassador said that good relations between the two countries should result in tangible improvement in bilateral trade and development projects.
“We have to remove the impediments in way of further strengthening of our bilateral relations,” said the ambassador.
During the meeting matters relating to Pak-Iran bilateral relations, Iranian President’s recent visit to Pakistan and the assistance sought from the Government of Iran regarding arrest of RAW agent from Balochistan were discussed.
The Ambassador also deplored certain attempts in some sections of media to negatively impact relations between the two countries in spite of greatly successful visit of President of Iran.
Ch Nisar told the ambassador that Pakistan and Iran were tied in decades long religious, social, cultural and political bonds and nothing can come in the way of brotherly Pak-Iran relations.”
The arrest of Indian agent Kulbushan Yadav and Pakistan government’s letter written to Iranian ambassador came under consideration.
Chaudhry Nisar urged Iran to also arrest Indian agent Kulbushan Yadav’s colleague, a RAW agent Rakesh alias Rizwan, and share information with Pakistan.
The Iranian Ambassador assured the Interior Minister that Iran would completely cooperate in this regard with Pakistan.
During the meeting, matters pertaining to security cooperation and bilateral relations also came under discussion.
The Interior Minister expressed concern at Iran’s territory being used for terrorist activities carried out in Pakistan. He said Iran should seriously review the Pakistani reference so that the confidence at the border between the two countries should be increased.
“The momentum created by the high level visit should be fully utilized for further deepening of relations in all possible areas. We need to build on the gains of the past and work hand in hand to overcome our shared challenges and achieve common objectives for the mutual benefit of the people of the two countries,” said the Interior Minister. The Minister said that our joint stance on various issues in the region at international fora will deter our foes from any malice against the two countries.
The Minister said that media in Pakistan is independent of the government but that does not mean that we can allow anybody to affect our relations. He said that all sections of Pakistani society are unanimous in their support for stronger Pak-Iran relations.
