Nisar appointed FBR chairman; Bajwa new EAD secretary

ISLAMABAD: In a major reshuffle, the federal government has appointed Nisar Muhammad, FBR Member (Customs), as new Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Secretary Revenue Division. According to a notification issued here on Monday, FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa has been given the assignment of Secretary Economic Affairs Division (EAD). Nasir Masroor Ahmed has been given a new assignment as FBR Member Customs. Following assignment of Mumtaz Haider Rizvi as FBR Chairman in 2012, Nisar Muhammad is a senior Grade-21 official, belonging to Pakistan Customs Service, appointed as new FBR Chairman. Nisar, a senior officer of Pakistan Customs Service, has previously served on various key positions across the country. He attended many seminars /workshops abroad relating to tax administration and reforms. His last posting was Member Strategic Planning Reforms & Statistics. Nisar did his MBA from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad and M.Sc. (Defence & Strategic Studies) from National Defence University, Islamabad. Shahid Hussain Asad, a BS-22 officer of 8th CTP, Member (Inland Revenue) Policy and also designated official spokesperson for FBR, has been given the new assignment of Director General National Center for Rural Development. Rehmatullah Khan Wazir has been appointed as new FBR Member (Inland Revenue) Policy.

Muhammad Ashraf Khan Member (IR Operations) has been appointed as MD, WAPDA. Chief Commissioner LTU Karachi Dr Muhammad Irshad has been given the new assignment of FBR Member IR Operations. Chief Commissioner RTO Lahore-II Waqar Ahmed has replaced FBR Member Administration Shahid Hussain Jatoi. Jatoi will be Member in charge, Federal Ombudsman, Karachi.
