New Star Wars movie breaks all records, beats Avatar and Titanic

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now the highest-earning movie in North America. On Tuesday the movie reached $760. 5 million in sales. replacing ‘Avatar’ in the top spot.
J.J. Abrams movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens is officially the highest-grossing movie of all time in North America. The domestic record was previously held by James Cameron’s Avatar with sales that reached $758 million. The blockbuster released by Cameron held the title with a seven-month run in theaters. It only took the Star Wars Force Awakens 20 days to reach the milestone of top movie of all time in North America.

No other movie has been able to reach that number but the fact that it reached the $760.5 million dollar mark in only two-and-a-half weeks indicates the Star Wars sequel has only begun to set records around the world. The long-awaited debut of the movie came with a heavy advertising campaign. Countless sponsors and new merchandise can only lead to the movie’s path into movie money history.

What began with the original trilogy created by George Lucas is a movie franchise that is loved by fans worldwide. The sequel to the much-loved Star Wars franchise was released on December 18, 2015 and is on the road to worldwide records, but no one is sure yet if it will surpass the number one movie of all time, which is Titanic. According to the Yahoo Box Office it is suggested the Star Wars reboot will gross approximately $2.4 billion worldwide. If this happens Star Wars, The Force Awakens will eclipse James Cameron’s Titanic, which grossed $2.19 billion in sales.
With more Star Wars sequels in the works, one can only speculate on the future of the franchise. With the movie leaving such major plot holes and the ending leaving the movie viewers wanting more, it is clear indication that the new Star Wars movie released by Disney and directed by J.J. Abrams is only the beginning.
