National Cricket Team Camp for handicapped begins

Islamabad: Training camp for Pakistan’s handicapped cricket team has begun under the supervision of head coach Sabih Azhar. National handicapped team will be participating in the ICC Academy T20 Cricket Tournament in UAE.

All selected players participated in the training camp being arranged at the PCB regional cricket academy, National Stadium.

Sabih Azhar, deputy coach M Javed and manager Amiruddin Ansari including recently selected captain Jahanzaib Tiwana supervised the training camp. PDCA chairman Saleem Kareem also attended the training session.

Player gathered at the ground at the stipulated time for 1-hour physical training session

The team will set off to UAE from Karachi on October 18 after the completion of training camp which will continue till October 17.

England, India, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are participating in the event along with Pakistan.

Pakistan will be playing its first match on October 20 at Dubai while the tournament will start from October 19.


Sabih Azhar said while talking to the media that although our team played very well and ended as a runner-up in the last match but this training camp is arranged to focus on the areas that need improvement. He said, “I am very pleased with the commitment shown by the players on the opening day. I must admit that after fitness and physical test, which was held last month in Rawalpindi, I have seen the boys coming (for the training camp) fit and hungry for cricket.”

He said while appreciating the players that they are looking determined to do well and take Pakistan on the victory stand.
