LAHORE – Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Friday said that a meeting between the foreign secretaries of Pakistan and India would take place at the end of December.
Talking to reporters here at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, Aizaz said both Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi stressed the need to stick to the comprehensive dialogue process.
“He (Modi) telephoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and expressed his desire to visit Pakistan. Nawaz welcomed his Indian counterpart, saying he was in Lahore. Modi, however, was unaware of the marriage of Nawaz’s granddaughter,” he told reporters.
He said that Modi proposed a meeting between the national security advisers of Pakistan and India during his interaction with Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of the Paris Climate Conference.
Answering a question, the foreign secretary said both the countries agreed to remove their differences during the visit of India’s Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj in Islamabad.
