MCB, Easypaisa join hands to grow e-commerce market

LAHORE: MCB Bank and Easypaisa have collaborated to expand Pakistan’s first ever comprehensive online payment solution, “Easypay”.

An agreement signing ceremony was held on January 29 in Lahore, which was attended by MCB Bank Limited Digital Banking Head Ali Naqvi, Easypaisa Strategic Head Omer Moeen Malik and MasterCard Country Manager Aurangzeb Khan along with their teams.

Through this facility, any individual having VISA or MasterCard Credit/ Debit Cards, can make online purchases from any of the Easypay enabled (powered by MCB Bank) Internet merchants, and pay securely through MasterCard Internet Gateway Solution (MIGS).

MIGS is a safe, simple and smart way for merchants to accept payments anywhere in Pakistan. At the moment, this gateway has the capability of accepting and processing payments through VISA and MasterCard Debit and/or Credit cards.

“The collaboration between MCB Bank and Easypaisa will momentously contribute towards the economic development of the country by providing secure payment solutions for the growth in e-commerce market,” said MCB Bank (North) Retail Banking Group Head Zargham Khan Durrani.

At the collaboration with MCB Bank, Tameer Microfinance Bank President and CEO Nadeem Hussain said, “The collaboration is a significant step up towards directly contributing to the economic development of Pakistan by providing a secure and customised solution for online trade. E-commerce will ideally favour the women entrepreneurs in Pakistan; working from home and supporting their families. Through Easypay online payments, Easypaisa will be enhancing customers’ experience and bridging gaps in the industry.”

MCB Bank President Imran Maqbool said the collaboration between MCB Bank and Easypaisa is a great achievement, adding that the digital payment industry is gearing up and arrangements like payment facilitator (PF) will go a long way towards revolutionising and redefining not only the industry landscape but also the entire payment ecosystem.

The bank, being the first one in the industry to enroll Tameer Bank/ Telenor as ‘Payment Facilitator’, has ventured into new hallways of payment eco system where they will be able to expand the card acceptance footprint for the developing e-commerce market in Pakistan. This is a big achievement that will benefit masses and promote digital means of making online payments instantly.
