KARACHI – A power breakdown early on Friday morning left half of Karachi without electricity after light showers were reported in different parts of the metropolis.
“The current power disruption is caused by tripping in the extra high tension line, which has affected a few grid stations,” according to the K-Electric. The fault which occurred at 7:00am, was caused by tripping in an extra high tension transmission line, K-Electric (KE) confirmed.
Spokesman of the power utility said restoration work was underway and electricity in most parts of city have been restored. Clifton, North Nazimabad, Gulistan-e-Johar, Federal B Area, North Karachi, Garden, Korangi & Defence were among the affected areas.
Residents took to Twitter to inquire about the breakdown as the estimated time for the power to be restored remained unknown.
