KARACHI: Film and TV actress Mahira Khan has apologised for posing with a guy, dressed up as a worker of India’s Shiv Sena group at a Halloween party.In the picture, Mahira was seen dressed up as a catwoman while her director Asim posed as Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray and held a placard, saying ‘Mahira Ko Bahar Nikalo’ at a Halloween party.The image refers to the Shiv Sena’s threat that they will not let any Pakistani artist enter India’s Maharashtra state. Mahira took to Twitter to issue an apology for hurting people’s sentiments.
“The image from a Halloween event I attended has been made out to be something it never was. It was not done intentionally to hurt anybody’s sentiments, neither to make a political statement,” she posted.Last month, Shiv Sena threatened not to let Pakistani actors Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan promote their upcoming films in Maharashtra. “We have taken a stand not to allow any Pakistani actor, cricketer or performer to step on Maharashtra soil,” Chitrapat Sena general secretary Akshay Bardapurkar had said.Shiv Sena had prevented legendary ghazal singer Ghulam Ali from performing in Mumbai and now also in New Delhi.
