PESHAWAR: Islami Jamiat-i-Talaba (IJT) has demanded the government to lift the ban on student unions in educational institutions to promote leadership skills among younger generation.Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, IJT provincial nazim Shah Zaman said that ban was unjust and urged the PTI-led provincial government to lift it or they would take to the streets against it.
He announced a campaign in educational institutions across the province to welcome the newcomers. He said that skits and dramas would be presented to highlight the role of students in welfare and development of the country.
Similarly, he said that teachers’ week would be observed from October 1 to 10 wherein their services would be highlighted, and colourful banners, charts and placards would also be displayed in universities and academies. He said that seminars, lecturers and walks would also be conducted and shields and gifts conferred on teachers.
During the next phase of the campaign, he added, informative pamphlets and banners would be displayed in all educational institutions and a survey would also be carried out about the problems in universities being faced by students from October 11 to 16.
