KARACHI: Growers of sugarcane on Saturday staged a protest outside Karachi Press Club against what they termed Sindh government’s failure to fix support price for their produce. Later, the protesters tried to march towards Sindh Chief Minister’s House, but they were intercepted by police. This led to a clash between the demonstrators and riot police. Police used water cannon and tear gas shells besides erecting barriers to stop the protesters from heading towards CM House. The protest caused severe traffic jams on roads and highways around the site protest.
