LAHORE – Jamaat-e-Islami on Sunday announced support for Aleem Khan, a senior leader and candidate of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in by-election of NA-122.
The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf delegation led by former Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar visited Jamaat’s headquarters in Mansoora to have talks with the party leaders. The talks were successful after which the Jamaat leaders assured Sarwar of support.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Pakistan Muslim League-N also tried to get support from the Jamaat for its candidate Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, a former speaker of the National Assembly. The Jamaat had conditioned by-poll’s support to ‘cooperation’ in the upcoming elections of the local bodies.
The by-election would be held on October 11 in NA-122, where Ayaz Sadiq and Aleem Khan are main contenders along with some other candidates.
