Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan’s decision to boycott the joint-session of parliament added to Indian media hysteria.
While Imran Khan’s decision drew criticism from politicians in Pakistan, the Indian media was quick to praise it. One Indian news channel said Imran’s boycott was a major blow to the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The channel also said this showed how political parties were not supporting the prime minister on ‘surgical strikes’.
Imran Khan’s boycott drew criticism from politicians in Pakistan who said the PTI chairman should have not boycotted the session under the prevailing situation.
In his address to the joint session of parliament, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan was against war and wants durable peace in the region. “Our desire for peace should be taken as a sovereign nation’s wish,” said the premier.
The prime minister also demanded an end to Indian atrocities and human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir.
