I’m available if team needs me for England series: Shahid Afridi

Former Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi on Thursday said that he will be available for Pakistan s tour of England this summer if required by his team.In an interview, the star player Shahid Afridi said that he is staying away from the team for England series as selectors want to give chance to youngsters.

“I m happy to concentrate on my county summer at the moment and then we ll see what happens later,” he added. “If the team needs me I m available.”

Pakistan face England in a four-Test series starting on 14 July, followed by five one-day internationals and a T20 contest from 24 August.The 36-year-old all-rounder will play his first game for Hampshire since 2011 against Middlesex on Friday.Earlier, Afridi admitted his poor performance in WT20 and resigned as T20 captain.Former T20 captain, nicknamed “Boom Boom” for his fierce hitting, had suffered a drop in form over the past two years and was unable to steer Pakistan through the group stages of the competition in India.Afridi also took to Facebook and Twitter to issue a one-minute video apology to the cricket-mad country.
