High-level task force to monitor implementation of National Action Plan

The government has decided to set up a high-level task force to monitor implementation of National Action Plan.

Decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Thursday.

The Task Force will comprise senior representatives of all concerned departments and agencies of the federal and the provincial governments.

The meeting took strategic review of the regional and internal security situation and pondered over the latest trends in activities of hostile intelligence agencies to destabilize Pakistan.

The meeting reaffirmed the national resolve to eliminate terrorism and extremism from the country.

The Prime Minister directed that no effort should be spared to ensure complete and effective implementation of National Action Plans  He stressed the need to take result-oriented and time bound action to eliminate the menace of terrorism.

The meeting reaffirmed that restoration of complete peace and tranquility will remain top priority of the Government and state institutions.

The participants observed that intelligence agencies perform a vital role in guaranteeing national security and safeguarding national interests. They stressed that the agencies should be provided all necessary resources and support.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Finance Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, National Security Advisor   Nasser Khan Janjua, DG ISI Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar and other senior officials.
