ISLAMABAD:Govt has notified four public holidays from July 5th (Tuesday) to July 8th (Friday) on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. However, with two weekly off days, the government employees will enjoy six holidays.
Eid-ul-Fitr, the religious festival of Muslims, is celebrated on the first of Shawwal according to the Muslim Hijri calendar, marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramazan.
Eid in Pakistan is likely to fall on July 6, the Director General of the Pakistan Meteorological Department said.
During the last few days of Ramazan, it is customary to prepare for Eid al-Fitr. Families go shopping for new clothes as everyone is expected to wear something new or look very smart during this holy time.
The event is one of the centerpieces of the Muslim calendar. It features large public group prayers and extended family gatherings.
