Google introduces Voice navigation for map directions in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Google has introduced the voice guided navigation for directions maps in Pakistan. The beta version of Google Navigation is an extension of Google maps for Android phone and updated Google Maps.

This is an upgrade on the previously available manual navigation for Pakistan, users would now be able to enjoy hands free navigation through voice commands on turn by turn navigation. The real time feature would also alert users for traffic jams and other incidents on their route.

Activating Navigation Mode

Activation does not require any additional install beside updated version go Google Maps. To use the voice navigation search for your desired location and tap the car icon to select route.


On the new window select your starting point and click on the start navigation button.

Google would prompt you to about the new navigation and ask to accept the terms and services.


Accept the services and here Google would prompt about the available service mode.


If you don’t have your location enabled click on settings to enable Google location on the maps. You are set to go. Google navigation service provides the following facilities.

  • Dedicated navigation mode
  • Offline navigation (will require you to download specific area offline first)
  • Real-time location update and route determination
  • Search your route for restaurants, petrol stations and etc.
  • Voice guidance system
