WASHINGTON: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited CIA Headquarters at Langley and held talks with its Director John Brennan.
According to ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa, the two sides discussed the prevailing situation and security challenges in the region.
General Raheel Sharif said a conducive environment is necessary for peace talks in Afghanistan. He said Pakistan is making sincere efforts to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan, as it is in the interest of the entire region.
The CIA chief acknowledged Pakistan Army’s success against terrorists in the Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
Earlier, the Army Chief had meetings with senior US authorities including Secretary of Defence Ashton Carter, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford and Army Chief of Staff Mark A Milley.
The two sides held wide-ranging talks focusing on bilateral defence cooperation and regional issues.
