Gamer ‘leaves Super Nintendo on for 20 years’

No-one can question this man’s dedication to gaming.

He apparently left his Super Nintendo (SNES) on for 20 years because he didn’t want to lose save data on his favourite game.

If the battery in the ‘Umihara Kawase’ cartridge had run out it would have been lights out on his game progress.

That’s 180,000 hours the SNES was plugged in if we are to believe Wanikun, who made the claim on Twitter.

‘Incidentally, I’m pretty sure my first generation Umihara Kawase, which has been on in the SNES for over 20 years, has been in operation for over 180,000 hours,’ he wrote.

‘If the power is tuned off, I’ll lose all my replay data. Probably.’

But he did apparently have a close call once.

When he was moving house he unplugged his SNES but the battery managed to stay alive long enough for him to plug the console back in.
