Fire engulfed passenger bus in South Korea, 10 dead

Seoul: 10 people killed and 9 were injured when fire erupted in a bus on a highway, officials said.

According to the Ministry of Public Safety and Security, 21 passengers including the bus driver were boarding the bus when it rammed into the roadside guardrail and caught fire at the Gyeongbu Expressway near the Ulsan, Southeastern Korean city, on Thursday night.

Ulsan police officials stated that the passengers were retired employees of a petrochemical company and their spouses were heading back from a tour to China.

The immediate reason of the fire is yet to be determined but authorities suspected that it started when bus hit the roadside guardrail after tire burst. They said that it might cause with the friction sparks. According to the Ulsan officials, the injured were shifted to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
