Famous Qawwal Amjad Sabri shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: Unknown armed men gunned down famous qawwal Amjad Sabri in Liaquat Abad area of Karachi.

According to reports, unknown assailants targeted the car of famous Qawwal Amjad Sabri near Laiqatabad flyover and fired six bullets at upper body and head of Amjad Sabri. Four unknown persons on 2 motorbikes also took a black bag of Sabri along with them.

Amjad Sabri was taken to Abbasi Shaheed hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Later, his body was shifted to the Agha Khan Hospital.

DIG West confirmed that the bullet that targeted Sabri’s head caused his death. SHO has been suspended after the incident.

Family members of Amjad Sabri say that there is no need to provide any kind of security after Amjad Sabri’s killing. Rangers and police teams have reached the spot and started investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sindh has taken notice of the tragic incident and ordered early arrest of the killers. Other political parties and leaders have also condemned Amjad Sabri’s targeted killing.

MQM leader Farooq Sattar said that these incidents of targeted killing raised a big question on security situation of the city. He said that whenever Karachi sees few days of peace, such criminals commit such crimes and spread fear among the citizens. In this situation everyone is compelled to demand handing over of security of the city to Rangers.




Born on December 23, 1976 in Karachi, Amjad Sabri was the new member of the Sabri group. He has been known and nourished with all the knowledge of music.

Amjad Sabri made his mark not just in Pakistan but also internationally.

Sabri Brothers were originally led by the soaring voice of the late Haji Ghulam Farid Sabri.
