Dr Fauzia Siddiqui’s guard brutally assaulted in Karachi

KARACHI – The security guard of Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s sister Dr Fauzia Siddiqui was brutally assaulted by some unidentified armed men in Karachi on Tuesday (today).

The security guard Amir – who was on duty at the residence of Dr Fauzia in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7 – was left tied unconscious with the chair after torture. The family members told that the security personnel that assailants fled the scene after taking important information regarding the routine of Dr Aafia’s children Ahmad and Maryam. The Rangers officers have launched an investigation into the matter and assured to apprehend the suspects as early as possible.

Aafia, a Pakistani neuroscientist, is serving an 86-year prison sentence in US for attacking American soldiers. “Aafia has suffered enormously away from her children and home,” he said.A jury in 2010 convicted Siddiqui – who has degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Brandeis University – of attempting in Afghanistan to shoot and kill a group of FBI agents, US soldiers and interpreters who were about to interrogate her for alleged links to al Qaeda.
