LAHORE: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has asked passengers to recheck flight timings from its call centre before leaving for airports, as dense fog in various cities of Punjab has disturbed flight schedule.
“Dense fog is affecting flight schedule especially at Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad and Sialkot airports. Flights to and from these destinations, except Lahore, have to be delayed till visibility improves beyond 350 metres,” a PIA spokesman said here on Sunday.
He said owing to the installation of Instrument Landing System CAT III-B system, the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore was least affected, but when visibility dropped below 50 metres, flights could not be operated here as well.
Passengers should contact PIA call centre at 111-786-786 to get updates on the latest situation and leave for airports accordingly, he said, adding fog was a weather phenomenon and passengers needed to cooperate with PIA staff and understand that flights in fog-affected areas were being delayed for their own safety.
