Decisive action against Chhotu Gang very soon

RAJANPUR: Authorities in South Punjab are likely to take operation against a group of gangsters holed up along the Indus River to logical end if abducted policemen were not released till evening, Neo News reported on Sunday.On Friday Pakistan Army took over the charge of operation against criminal elements in Punjab’s Rajanpur area after notorious Chhotu gang inflicted heavy losses on police.

Seven policemen and as many miscreants have been killed since the police launched the drive against gangsters. Over 20 policemen were kidnapped by the gangsters and were shifted to on an island hideout.According to our correspondents reporting from the area, troops have cordoned off the area from all four sides, leaving no space for members of the Chhotu gang or their accomplices to escape.

The gang – led by Ghulam Rasool also known as Chhotu, a longtime criminal active in the border areas of the provinces of Punjab and Sindh – is blamed for hundreds of cases of kidnapping for ransom, murder and robbery.The battle is taking place near Rajanpur, one of the poorest districts in Punjab, where the Panjnad River flows into the Indus River.
