LAHORE - The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday issued notice to the federal government to respond on a petition challenging the recent increase in the prices of petroleum products.
The petition stated that the government increased petrol price without giving any valid reason as there was no change in oil prices in the international market. The plaintiff has urged the court to suspend the notification of increase in petrol price.
On October 31, Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Ishaq Dar announced Rs 2.5 per liter raise in petrol price and increase of Rs 1.45 per liter in diesel price. Prices of kerosene, hi-octane and light diesel remained unchanged.
