KARACHI: An accountability court here on Thursday extended the remand of Dr Asim Hussain to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), for further investigation, till December 23.
Dr. Asim Hussain, the chairman, Sindh Higher Education Commission and former petroleum minister of the country is currently in NAB custody for his alleged role in illegal appointments and award of contracts in the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).
Earlier the counsel for NAB also submitted before the accountability court a charge-sheet framed against the former federal minister and on basis of it extension in Dr. Asim’s remand was sought for further investigation.
The former petroleum minister had been detained by the Rangers on August 26 in cases related to harboring and treating terrorists at his private health facility, Ziauddin Hospital.
With the expiry in his 90-day detention on November 26, Dr Asim was transferred to police custody for further investigations who latter withdrew terror financing related charges against the former petroleum minister.
