Chinese High ranking Military official in Pakistan,meets COAS

ISLAMBAD: A high level Chinese military delegation headed by Vice Chairman of Central Military Commission of China on Thursday arrived in Islamabad on a goodwill visit to the country.According to reports, this is General Fan Changlong’s first visit to Pakistan after a lapse of 11 years. Changlong called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the General Headquarters. The meeting between the two officials was followed by delegation level talks.Further, during the meeting, General Raheel and Changlong discussed matters of mutual interest including regional security, steps for regional stability as well as enhanced bilateral defence collaboration.“Pak-China relations are based on mutual trust and cooperation. The relationship has survived the test of times and is only bound to grow,” General Raheel said.

Further, highlighting Pak-China defence and security cooperation, Changlong said “China and Pakistan are like iron brothers, good friends and strategic partners. We share the tradition of mutual understanding, mutual trust and support. China truly appreciates Pakistan Army’s determination in counter terrorism along with success in various fields.“China values the efforts of Pakistan Army in fighting ETIM. The China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is equally beneficial to both China and Pakistan. Both countries are committed to its continuous process and future success.”Further lauding Pakistan Army’s efforts in providing security for CPEC, Changlong said, “We look forward to close cooperation with Pakistan side to ensure proper management and security of CPEC.”Earlier upon arriving at the General Headquarters, a contingent of the Pakistan Army presented Guard of Honour to the visiting dignitary.
