ISLAMABAD: China will work with all parties to support and help re-launch peace talks inside Afghanistan, said Hong Le a spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Commenting on the first meeting of the quadrilateral coordination group of Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and the US on Afghan peace, the spokesman said it ended on a positive note.
Special Envoy on the Afghan affairs of China’s Foreign Ministry Deng Xijun led a delegation in the meeting. The meeting aimed to facilitate exchanges on the Afghan issue and create favorable conditions for the Afghan reconciliation process.
The spokesman at a regular news briefing in Beijing, said China supports “the Afghan-led, Afghan-own” reconciliation process, and stands ready to play a constructive role to that end. On the premise of respecting Afghanistan’s sovereignty and the will of all sides,
China has been consistently supporting Pakistan’s efforts to bring the parties concerned on the negotiating table for ensuring peace and stability in the region.
