QUETTA: The Balochistan government unveiled its Rs 289.356 billion budget with a deficit of Rs 36.485 billion for the next financial year on Sunday evening. The new fiscal budget includes Rs 218.174 billion non-development expenditure and Rs 71.182 billion for Annual Development Programme. The provincial government has announced 10 percent increase in the salaries of government employees and 3,222 new jobs in government departments for the unemployed youth in the new fiscal year. The income of the province in the new fiscal year 2016-17 will be more than Rs 252.871 billion, including receipts from the centre under the National Finance Commission Award, divisible pool and on other heads. It will receive Rs 10 billion from Islamabad as Gas Development Surcharge. As per details, the Balochsitan government will receive Rs 182.605 billion from the divisible pool, Rs 14.238 billion from direct transfers, Rs 10 billion from other sources and Rs 36.908 billion from the capital revenue. The province will generate Rs 9.120 billion from its own sources and receive Rs 6.181 billion from foreign donors. The Public Sector Development Programme has an outlay of Rs 71.182 billion. Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri presented the annual budget during the assembly session presided over by Speaker Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani. A sum of Rs 10 billion has been allocated for the ongoing schemes, Rs 28.93 billion for education, Rs 17.36 billion for health, Rs 30.25 billion for law and order, Rs 12 billion for general administration, Rs 10 billion for water supply schemes and Rs 5 billion for infrastructure in Quetta, Rs 3 billion for civic amenities in divisional headquarters of the province, Rs 2 billion for Quetta mass transit system and Rs 1 billion for Quetta green bus project.
