ATC extends judicial remands for Dr Imran murder accused till Feb 10

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday extended the judicial remand till February 10 for two main accused Khalid Shamim and Mohsin Ali in the murder case of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) slain leader Dr. Imran Farooq.

The court also decided to conduct hearing for the above accused as well as Moazzam Ali on the same day.

ATC judge, Syed Kosar Abbas Zaidi presided over the hearing of the case.

The court also heard a petition seeking permission for the families of Moazzam Ali and Mohsin Ali to visit them in the prison besides transferring the accused to a better-facilitated prison.

The council for the accused said the two were neither being allowed to meet their lawyers nor their family members. He said allowing permission is a prerogative of the trial court and not the prison or investigation officials.

After hearing the arguments, the court reserved decision on the petition.

Later, the court adjourned hearing of the case.
