RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday said that Pakistani nation has unshakable trust in its armed forces, keeps them in very high esteem and acknowledges their sacrifices in the line of duty.According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, the army chief expressed these views during his visit to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Frontier Corps Headquarters at Balahassar Peshawar. “We are proud to be the custodian of this unflinching faith of our nation, and will always come up to their expectations,” he said.Paying rich tribute to the valour, sacrifices and achievements of the Pakhtunkhwa Frontier Corps in Zarb-e-Azb military operation, he said, “The Frontier Corps is playing a pivotal and praiseworthy role in the fight against terrorism. The troops are writing new chapters of bravery, stead fastness and sacrifices.
General Sharif also reviewed new manpower and equipment induction plan for capacity building and directed to ensure merit in selection and best training standards to remain an effective and credible institution. He also paid glowing tributes to the police officials and other security personnel, who had laid down their lives in the line of duty.He commended an integrated response by all security forces to bring a noticeable improvement in the security situation. He, however, directed them to remain ever vigilant in order to defeat terrorist attempts across the country in future. He also stressed the need to work more for close coordination and better border management on both sides of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border as a pre-requisite for long-term peace and stability in the region.
