Any threat to Pak integrity unacceptable: Saudi Arabia

RIYADH:”Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy strong brotherly relations which have a long history of deep-rooted cooperation”, General Raheel was quoted as saying in a statement by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited Army marksmanship Firing Ranges near Jhelum on Monday and witnessed the closing ceremony of 36th Pakistan Army Rifle Association (PARA) Central Meet, the biggest shooting competition of the country, organised after a lapse of five years. Saudi King and Crown Prince reassured the COAS that they consider any threat to Pakistan’s integrity as unacceptable and will support peace, stability in Pakistan. Saudi Defence Minister urged Pakistan army to enhance cooperation in the domains of counter terrorism and choking financial resources of terrorists. The King, Crown Prince and Defence Minister said that they hold Pakistan and Pakistan Army in high esteem, also appreciated the achievements of Pakistan Army in the Operation Zarb-e-Azb. It was acknowledged during the meeting that both Pakistan and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are vital players in regional stability, “with significant responsibility towards Muslim ummah”. “This exercise signifies the joint effort of our two nations against terrorism and we will defeat this menace in all its forms and manifestations”, said the general. Pakistan will protect the integrity of Saudi Arabia, he added. He was received by the deputy defence minister and commander of Saudi Land Forces on Tuesday. Army Chief exchanged views on important matters with Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and other officials. The army chief also met Chief of General Staff of Saudi Forces Gen Abdulreham bin Saleh Al Bunyan to discuss military to military relations, defence cooperation and regional security situation.
