CHILE – More than 15000 people took part in Chile’s annual tomato fight. The War of the Tomato takes place every year at the end of season in the Chilean city of Quillon to raise awareness of the local crop.
Fruit that would usually be thrown away is donated by local farmers for the event. Nearly 100 tones of tomatoes were used in the festival that was thrown at the participants. The yearly event takes inspiration from the famed tomato festival in Spain – a week-long festival that s happened since 1945.
